WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?
First, Dr. Satchi will apply a numbing cream to ensure the patient is comfortable during the process.. When the area is completely numb, a small pen is used to create microscopic holes in the skin. This process takes approximately 15 minutes. A skin clearing serum is then used to hydrate, heal and protect the treated area.
WHAT PARTS OF THE BODY CAN I TREAT?
Microneedling can be done on all parts of the body including the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back. Microneedling is also effective for people with sensitive skin and for hard to reach or fragile areas such as the undereyes, neck, or the backs of the hands.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN TERMS OF DOWNTIME?
Most people will notice redness and mild swelling similar to a slight sunburn for 24-48 hours after the treatment. There may be slight pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising during and directly following the treatment which quickly dissipates.
HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS?
The skin will be noticeably smoother and more radiant within a week or two and full results will appear within a few months.
CAN MICRONEEDLING BE PERFORMED ON ANY SKIN COLOR?
Yes. Microneedling is safe to use on all skin tones and all skin types without risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Typically three treatments are recommended, but this can vary based on the client’s personal skin condition and concerns. Collagen induction requires at least three treatments, while scar reduction therapy requires between three to six. Treatments are spaced four to six weeks apart and the number of treatments needed depends on the individual. The course of therapy will be discussed in the initial complimentary consultation.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THIS PROCEDURE?
There are no negative side effects resulting from microneedling and none have been seen in the more than 150,000 traetments that have been done worldwide.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR THIS TREATMENT?
Microneedling is not suitable for patients who have used Accutane (isotretinoin) within the last three months, have open wounds, cuts or abrasions, have had radiation skin treatment within the last year, are suffering from any skin infection, condition, or herpes simplex in the area of concern, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any history of keloid or hypertrophic scars or poor wound healing. Each patient’s medical history will be reviewed during the initial complimentary consultation.
IS MICRONEEDLING PAINFUL?
No. A numbing cream is applied to ensure the patient is comfortable during the procedure.
